Alexander Doc Bomar, age 98, of Southgate, MI, formerly of Henry County died on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at his nieces residence in Paris, TN. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bevil Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday evening at McEvoy Funeral Home from 4-8 PM and after 9:00 AM on Monday. Doc was married to Lucy Verleen Bevill Bomar who preceded him February 12, 2005. Doc is survived by in-laws Mary Jane (Earl) Shankle, Paris, TN, Margaret Bevill, Paris, TN, Bobby (Eve) Bevill, Paris, TN. Doc is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and his extended family and friends in Southgate, MI. He was preceded by parents; John I and Minnie Davis Bomar, sisters; Nell Bomar Jones, Lucille Bomar Bowden, Sue Bomar Moore, brothers; Tom Bomar, Malcolm Bomar, William Bomar. Doc was an Army Veteran of WWII, and an avid bird hunter and tomato grower. He retired in 1977 from Detroit Salt Mine, Detroit MI, as a miner.
