Althea DeBord Neese, age 85 of Jacksonville, Fl, Nashville and Greeneville, TN will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Judge Charles Gelbert Neese on Saturday march 31, 2012 at the Maplewood Cemetery in Paris, TN. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM.
Throughout her life Althea was a ray of sunshine to all those who knew her. She was dearly loved in her many relationships as wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be terribly missed by all those she touched in her life. She was an avid antique collector and regular walker. She adored all young children and never missed an opportunity to show affection to them.
Mrs. Neese was born on August 1, 1926 and passed away December 15 in Jacksonville, FL. She was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Betty Catherine DeBord. She spent her formative years in Ashland, KY where she graduated from the local school. She married Carson Davis, Jr. and they had one daughter, Rhonda. Later they divorced and she moved to Nashville, TN with her daughter.
In Nashville she was a member of the McKendree Methodist Church and served for many years as secretary for the Tennessee Loyalmen's Association, where she met and later married U.S. District Court Judge Charles Gelbert Neese in 1970. She and Judge Neese lived in both Nashville and Greeneville, TN where Mrs. Neese was very active in many civic and charitable organizations. Judge Neese passed away in 1989 and a few years later Mrs. Neese moved to Jacksonville, FL to live with her daughter and her family.
She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Richard P. Poirier, Jr. and granddaughter Gabrielle DeBord Poirier all of Washington D.C. and Jacksonville, FL, her grandson Richard P. "Trey" Poirier, III of Jacksonville, FL, her sister Joyce Debord Bergquist of Dothan, AL, two step-sons Charles Gelbert Neese, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Pegram, TN and Gerry Neese of Jackson, TN, their children and many loving nieces and nephews.
