Funeral service 11:00AM Saturday, March 15th at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Trent Bullock and Bro. Larry Simmons of First Baptist Church of Paris officiating, burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Richard Edwards, Bennie Akers, Terry Oliver, Tom Alexander, David Carrico and Bill Wilson. Visitation 4:00 - 7:00PM Friday and after 10:00AM Saturday. She was born in Henry County to the late John and Mary Ada Edwards Phelps. On November 30, 1944 she married Earl Fulghum, he preceded October 1977. Survived by nieces: Nancy (Phillip) Wells, Paris, Mary (Richard) Walters, Paris, Katherine (Frank) Burch, Romney, VA; nephew: Jack (Cynthy) Phelps, Nashville; great nieces and nephews: fifteen; numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Preceded by sisters: Johnnie Blanche Norwood, Mary Bessie Sanford; brothers: Clint Elder Phelps, Charlie Smith Phelps and Jewell A. Phelps. Mrs. Fulghum was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a retired beautician, former church organist and pianist at Parran's Chapel Church in Bolivar and a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She began playing the piano when she was four years old and family members say throughout her life she blessed many people by sharing her God-given talent.
