Mrs. Ava Hartsfield Greely, age 85, of Columbus, GA, formerly of Paris, TN, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Columbus, GA. Her body is to be cremated. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Paris, TN. There is no visitation scheduled prior to the service. The Rev. Clarence Fowler will officiate.
Mrs. Greely was born December 27, 1925 to the late Willie and Florence McWherter Hartsfield.
She is survived by step daughters; Janice Holmes, Atlanta, GA, Batista Greely, Columbus, GA, nieces; Patricia Williams, Columbus, GA, Amelia Pinto, Columbus, GA, Constance Fennell, Columbus, GA, Lynn Hartsfield, Nashville, TN, Yvonne (James) Pate, Nashville, TN, June Hartsfield, Paris, TN, Rozena Salam, Rialto, CA, nephews; Mike Hartsfield, Paris, TN, Lamont Hartsfield, Paris, TN and Sheldon Hartsfield, OFallon, MO. She is also survived by a number of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband; Willie Greely Jr., sisters; Ernestine Cooksey, Mildred Pritchett, Edith Gray, brothers, Halbert, James and Leland Hartsfield.
Mrs. Greely was an accomplished musician. She loved gospel music and her church family at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Columbus, GA where she was a member.
