Barbara "Peggy" Bowden Lewis, age 89, loving mother, homemaker and seamstress, of McKenzie, TN, passed away Tuesday May 26, 2015 at Henry County Medical Center. Her funeral service will be Friday May 29, 2015, 11:00AM at McEvoy Funeral Home with Phil Williams officiating, burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie, TN. Paul Neal, James Aldridge, Keith Kuykendal, Herb Muller, Les Putman and Chris Coley will serve as pallbearers. Visitation 4:00 - 8:00PM Thursday and after 9:00AM Friday. She was born in Henry, TN to the late Clarence Hurlie and Sallie Maye Jones Bowden. On March 8, 1947 she married Leon Ross Lewis, he preceded may 22, 2005. Survived by daughters: Sara Elizabeth (Mike) Lane Watauga, TN, Linda L. Bogle, McKenzie; son: Steve (Leslie) Lewis, McKenzie; grandchildren: Steven L. Lewis, Anna Grieco, Jesse Lane, Andrew Lane and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded by a son-in-law: Steve Bogle and two brothers: William Jordan Bowden and Homer Lee "Sam" Bowden. Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of Henry High School and West TN Business College.
