Bessie Ruth Davis Ashby, age 90, of Mansfield, Tennessee passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. James Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow the service in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Dean Davis, David Davis, Shane Wheet, Logan Ledsinger, Josh Filtz and Annibale Clericuzio. Visitation for Mrs. Ashby is scheduled from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at McEvoy and again on Thursday, after 12:00 P.M. until service time at 3:00. Bessie was born November 17, 1931 in Mansfield, Tennessee to the late Isaac Fielding Davis and the late Sarah Gladys Hastings Davis. She married Donald Morris Ashby on October 17, 1953 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2001. Bessie is survived by her daughter, Donna Ashby Wade of Huntingdon, Tennessee; sons, Morris Davis Ashby and wife Lisa of Milan, Tennessee, Jeff Ashby of Paris and Kent Ashby and wife Sandi of Mansfield; grandchildren, Christopher Ashby, Blaine Ashby, Bradley Ashby and wife Jennifer, Bobby Ashby and Anna Wade (Shane); six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pat Ashby of Winchester, Tennessee; first cousin, Carolyn Bratton of Milan; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Besides her parents and husband, Bessie is also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Carl Davis. Mrs. Ashby was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in McKenzie and attended Shiloh Methodist Church in Mansfield.
