Betty Stephens Bivens, age 93 of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Henry County Hospital. Her funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2025 at McEvoy Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Trent Bullock. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation with the family is scheduled after 12:00 noon on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at McEvoy until time of service. Betty Jean Stephens Bivens was born November 12, 1931 in Parsons, Tennessee to the late A.R. Stephens and late Edith Bartholomew Stephens Cox. She married Charles E. Bivens on March 31, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1999. Betty is survived by her daughters, Melanie B. (Tommy) Townsend of Paris, Lisa J. Bivens of Sparta, Tennessee, and Stephanie B. (Scott) Morris of Montgomery, Alabama; grandchildren, Robby Midyett, Cameron Midyett, Madison (Jordan) Dennis, and Josh (Erin) Coleman; great-grandchildren, Sloane Midyett and Eva Coleman; brother Vaughn Stephens of Springville; dear friend, Sheila Shope and by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Bivens was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris. She retired from National Bank of Commerce in Memphis as a Personnel Officer. She was an avid sports fan, particularly her Vols, a member of the Big Four Bridge Group in Memphis and her love for Bridge carried over to her weekly Bridge group at Rosestone. She enjoyed working puzzles, singing in the choir, working as a Pink Lady at Henry County Medical Center, and did volunteer work for her church for many years. She loved people, including her numerous dear friends from Memphis and Paris but she most especially loved her grandchildren.
