Funeral service 4:00PM Sunday June 28, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Martin, First United Methodist Church and Bro. Mike Wimberley, Cottage Grove Methodist Church officiating, burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation 1:00PM Sunday until service time.
She was born in Erin, TN to the late Benjamin Franklin and Ethel Reynolds Hagler. On September 17, 1950 she married J.D. Gooch, he survives in Paris.
Survived by a daughter: Jan (David) Foy, Puryear; son: Jim (Tammy) Gooch, Paris; sisters: Evelyn Alsobrooks, Erin, Dorothy Taylor, Erin, Annie Williams, Erin; brother: Ben Hagler, Erin; grandchildren: Blake and Hunter Gooch, Staci Foy, Bryan Mullin, Breyanne Sperry, Jeremy Perkins, Brittany Vaughn; great-grandchildren: Stefani Gooch, Aiden Gooch, Liam Gooch, Dawson Sperry, Dalyliah Sperry, Will Vaughn and by numerous nieces nephews cousins and special friends.
Preceded by a son: Dan Gooch; sister: Lila McElroy; brothers-in-law: John McElroy, George Alsobrooks, Al Taylor and Jay Williams.
Mrs. Gooch was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, member of Eastern Star for over 50 years and member of the DAR. Betty was the first director of nursing at Trinity Hospital in Erin and a former director of nursing at Henry County Medical Center. She enjoyed fishing more that eating, loved traveling, collecting coffee mugs and had one from every state. She was a big supporter of Hoof Beats of Hope.
