Betty Carroll Wheat, age 83 of Paris, TN passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Paris Healthcare Center.
Her celebration of life service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Paris, TN on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. with Gary Collier officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 3:00 P.M.
Betty was born on December 20, 1932 in McKenzie, TN to the late Harry T. Carroll and Lucille Lankford Carroll.
She is survived by daughters: Cynthia (Phil) Agee of Humboldt, TN and Lynn Spellings of Paris, TN; son: Robert (Lee Ann) Wheat of Paris, TN; grandchildren: Clayton Arrington, Amy Thurman, Lindsey Barzizza, Matt Spellings, Will Spellings, Brad Wheat, Ryan Wheat, Ashley Wheatley, and Drew Agee. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded by a sister: Nell McAden and a brother: Paul T. Carroll.
She was active in the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ambassador Sunday School Class, a lay leader, a member of Moving Methodist Womens Circle, and Chairman of the Evangelism Committee. She served on the United Methodist Paris District Committee on Ordained Ministers. Mrs. Wheat spent her 33 year career in education as a teacher, guidance counselor, consultant with the Tennessee Department of Education and Assistant Superintendent of Henry County Schools until her retirement in 1998. She served her community as a member of the Quota Club, on the boards for Habitat for Humanity, and Plus Endowment. Betty was a very devoted mother, grandmother and educator who left a legacy of service to all those lives that she touched.
