Funeral service 2:00PM Thursday, April 24th at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Cliff Evans of West Paris Baptist Church officiating, burial will follow at Bevil Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Randy Ellis, Billy Ellis, David Dougherty, Brandon Dougherty, Danny Stevenson and Roger "Bubba" Martin. Visitation after 11:00AM Thursday until service time. Born in Paris to the late Harold and Sallie Gateley Ellis. On December 31, 1957 he married Joyce Hudgins Ellis, she survives in Paris. Survived by daughters: Shelia (David) Dougherty, Paris, Kathy Jean Ellis, Paris; sons: Randy (Pam) Ellis, Paris, Billy (Tammy) Ellis, Paris; sister: Alma Martin, Paris; grandchildren: eleven; great-grandchildren: sixteen. Preceded by a daughter: Michelle Ellis and a brother: Richard Ellis. Mr. Ellis was a retired truck driver for the Henry County Highway Department. He always had a knack for making people laugh and loved old cars, motorcycles and country music. Granddaughters, Sara and Jessica were with him at the hospital and cared for him in his final moments.
