Billy Ray, age 76, passed away Tuesday at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN after a lengthy and courageous battle with a heart condition.
Funeral service will be Friday April 30, 2010 2:00 P.M. at McEvoy Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation 4:00 until 8:00 Thursday and after 9:00 Friday.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Medlock Smith, Paris, daughters; Cathey (Joseph) Wells, Springville, TN, Debbie (Dennis) Read, Jackson, TN, daughter-in-law; Janie Rowlett, Paris, TN, son; Ronnie (Elaine) Rowlett, Somerset, KY, sisters; Jessie (Bill) Young, TX, Alice (Chuck) Bucy, Paris, TN, brothers; Troy (Audrey) Smith, Paris, TN, Joe Frankie (Peggy) Smith, Louisville, KY, grandchildren; April (Jeff) McNutt, Murfreesboro, TN, Molley Rowlett, Paris, TN, Megan Rowlett, Jackson, TN, Shane (Wendy) Bostick, Puryear, TN, great-grandchildren; Jonathan and Katelyn McNutt, Josh Harris all of Murfreesboro, TN, Paxton, Hayden and Reagan Bostick, Puryear, TN, also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other sisters and
brothers-in-law.
Preceded by parents; Lloyd and Mary Patterson Smith, son; Billy Ray (B.R.) Smith, Jr., July 31, 1991, sisters; Martha Vaughn Baker and Lurleen Evans, brothers; Leroy, J.L. and Eugene Smith.
He was a member of Birds Creek Baptist Church.
Former Owner and Operator of Easy Shoppe, North Market Street and of Smith's Texaco for 20 years.
Billy Ray devoted his time and love to raising cattle and horses, his church, the Prayer Garden, family, friends and to anyone who needed a helping hand.
