Memorial service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Billy Ross of Thompson Creek Baptist Church and Dr. Corey Cain of Maplewood Baptist Church officiating, burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 11:00 on Wednesday. He was born in McAllister, WI to the late Carl and Esther Peterson Thoreson. On July 26, 1969 he married Shirley M. Whiteside Thoreson, she survives in Paris. Survived by daughters: Kathleen Thoreson, Prescott, AZ, Patricia Kerr, Indianapolis, IN, Julie Hersey, Marshall, VA; step-daughters: Ruth (Tom) Matteson, Andover, MN, Sherry (Rick) Ramin, Anoka, MN; step-sons: James (Karen) Roberts, Ramsey, MN, Michael Roberts, Ramsey, MN; sisters: Darlene (Dick) Umbaugh, Springfield, OH, Anna (Don) Beleck, Crystal Falls, MI, Bonnie (Lindy) Tadiello, Crystal Falls, MI; brothers: Gordon Allen Thoreson, White Pine, MI, Kenneth Thoreson, Amasa, MI, Terry Thoreson, Crystal Fall, MI, sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Preceded by three brothers: Dean, Glen and Dale Thoreson. Mr. Thoreson was a member of the Maplewood Baptist Church. He was a Major in the United States Army retiring after 22 years, serving in WWII, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He also retired from the Veterans Administration after 17 years of service following his Army retirement. He was an avid bowler.
