Celia Mae Rayburn Thomas, age 85 of Paris, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. A private family service will be held with burial at Oak Hill Union Church Cemetery. Bro. Ken Beal of Oak Hill Union Church will officiate and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
Celia Mae Rayburn Thomas was born September 27, 1935 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late Benjamin Frank Rayburn and the late Bertie Mae Rayburn Deeter. On September 11, 1953 she married Lucien Anderson Thomas and he preceded her in death on December 18, 2017.
Celia is survived by her daughter Reta (Larry) Mock of Buchanan, TN; her sons: Dale (Susan) Thomas of Lockport, IL, Dwayne (Mariam) Thomas of Cottage Grove, TN, and Steven (Laura) Thomas of Paris, TN; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and sister, Judy (Johnny) Horn of Barlow, KY.
Besides her parents and husband, Celia was also preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; a son, Charles Thomas in 2012; a son-in-law, Mike Breeden in 2005; and two sisters: Patsy Thompson and Jewelle Wallace.
A loving mother and child of God, Celia was a faithful member of Oak Hill Union Church. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends; reading, and sharing recipes and photos of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, quilting and gardening.
