CHARLES EDWARD ADKINS SR., 82, of Paris, Tennessee, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in the Regional Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
He was born November 21, 1927 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Edward and Grace (Owen) Adkins.
Charles lived in Springfield most of his life until his retirement from Holland Motor Express in Columbus, where he was employed for twenty-eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Sayers Adkins of Paris, Tennessee; four sons, Charles Edward Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Robert Eugene of Lexington, Kentucky, David Allan of Springfield and Michael Ray of Mansfield, Tennessee; two daughters, Jean Ann Southers of Thornville, Ohio and Carol Sue Dunbar of Springfield; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife of forty-eight years, Virginia Juanita (Courtright) Adkins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, 830 North Limestone Street, Springfield, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
Charles will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Virginia, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
