Charles C. Melton age 86 of Collierville, Tennessee, formerly of Paris passed away at the Hearthside Senior Living Center in Collierville. His funeral service is scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Saturday February 18, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Martin of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation is to be after 12:00 P.M. Saturday until service time. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Union Cemetery in Paris. Mr. Melton was born on July 13, 1930 in Memphis to Doyle F. Melton and Ruby Rushing Melton, both preceded. Charles is survived by his wife Elaine Compton Melton of Collierville; daughters, Karen Carl of Brownsville, TN, Cathy (Randy) Paschall of Germantown, TN, Amy (Jay) Harvill of Collierville, TN; son, Mark (Barbara) Melton of Memphis, TN; sister, Gloria Jones of Trenton, TN; sister-in-law, Jane Melton of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Craig Melton, Joel Melton, Melissa Jones, Aaron Carl, Lauren Quick, Matthew Paschall, Rachel Estridge, Kenton Harvill, Lainey Harvill and Issac Harvill. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Glendell D. Melton and a brother-in-law, Frank L. Jones. Mr. Melton was a 1948 graduate of Memphis Tech High School. He was a 37 year employee with the U.S. Postal Service and in 1987 upon retiring moved to Paris. He was a 30 year career reservist with the 330th General Hospital Unit of the Army Reserve in Memphis. Charles was active in church leadership in both Galloway United Methodist Church in Memphis and the First United Methodist Church in Paris. Memorials may be made to: Oak Hill Union Cemetery Fund or to the charity of the donors choice.
