Martin, Pastor First United Methodist Church officiating, burial will follow at Bevil Cemetery with military rites. Charles was the son of the late Stuart Lewis Thompson and Mary Smith Thompson, he was married to Shirley Ruth Hicks Thompson on April 2, 1964, she preceded August 30, 2009. Survived by companion; Linda Hosford, Paris, TN, daughter; Sheena Lynn (Jeff) Carpenter, Paris, TN, sisters; Sheryl (Jerry) Richards, TX and Dorothy Shelton, Oregon, sisters-in-law; Pauline Eldridge Rhodes, Paris, TN, Joy Weatherford, OH, grandchildren; Shawna (Andy) Marshall, Shelby Carpenter and Ashley Carpenter, great-grandchildren; Dawsen Marshall and Griffin Marshall all of Paris, TN, several nieces and nephews. Preceded by a brother; Frank Thompson. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Paris Elks Lodge and the Paris Country Club. He moved to Paris in April 2002 after retiring as Owner/Operator of an excavating company for commercial contracting in Holly, MI. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, Screaming Eagles, 101st.
