Charles W. "Charlie" Johnson, age 74 of Paris, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at Henry County Medical Center. His memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Charles W. Johnson was born August 12, 1946 in Humboldt, Tennessee to the late Wilbert Johnson and the late Sadie Mae Champion. On September 28, 1968 he married Virginia Harrison Johnson and she preceded him in death on November 27, 2015.
Charlie was a member of Whitlock Church of Christ. He worked at Midland Ross/Midland Brake of Paris with over 40 years of service. He was very well known in the community as a baseball umpire at McNeil Park for many years.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Tonya Johnson Beasley (Vincent Beasley) of Memphis; two sons: Victor M. Johnson (Barbara Collins) of Duluth, GA and Roderick R. Johnson (Lano Y. Johnson) of Woodbridge, VA; four grandchildren: Tristan Chase Johnson, Rashee R. Stocks, Kayla A. Johnson and Skylar V. Beasley; one great grandchild, Rashee O. Stocks; five sisters: Carolyn Walker (Larry), Bobbie Jean Manley (Milton), Gail Champion, Aretha Johnson, and Ora Lewis, all of Humboldt, TN; six brothers: Jimi Hess of Jackson, TN, Tony Champion (Darla), Dennis Johnson, William Johnson, Wilbert Johnson, and Alphonso Johnson, all of Humboldt, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Charlie was also preceded in death by six sisters: Betty Booth, Ruby Nell Hicks, Ella Johnson, Willie Johnson, Lartha Johnson, and Judy Johnson; and two brothers: Mayo Johnson and Roy Johnson.
