John "Chris" Wimberley

Age 46, of Mobile, Alabama

Native of Paris, Tennessee

Chris was born on April 12, 1979, and passed away on September 10, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 8 years to John Thurman. He is survived by his siblings Dale (Sandy) Wimberley, Gerald (Amanda) Wimberley, and Nicole (Daniel Funderburk); nieces Alyson (Loren) Ferguson and Tiffany (Cade) Williams; nephews John (Ashley) Witherspoon and Sebastian Wimberley; great-nieces and nephews Klayton, Kage, Stetson, Aivan, and Annabelle; aunt Kathryn Waldrop; and uncle Ronnie (Jan) Wimberley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Justin, his grandfather Raymond Wimberley, and his best friend Shannon.

Chris was one of a kind. He loved the beach, the river, trying new restaurants, being the center of attention, and being the complete life of the party. Known for his huge heart, constant smile, and quick jokes, Chris never met a stranger. His quirky personality and a love for Alabama football were unmatched. He never left the house without his Alabama hat. Although he and John did not have children, they treasured their cats, Dutches, Roxie, Sam, Boo, and Possum, as part of their family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20th, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris, TN, and another will be held on Thursday, September 25th, from 5:00–9:00 PM at The Rear Pocket in Midtown, Mobile, AL, for his Alabama family and friends.

Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
