Funeral service 2:00PM Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Trent Bullock of First Baptist Church officiating, burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Bill Looney, Ryan Hamlin, Bo Caldwell, Randall Perkins, John Van Dyck, Joe Frensley. Charlie Cate will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation 12:00 Noon until service time Wednesday.
Survived by daughters: Jane (Doug) Overton, Paris, Rita (George) Wofford, Paris; grandchildren: Doug (Teri) Overton, Mandy (Ryan) Hamlin; great-grandchildren: Will Overton, Drew Overton, Ellie Grace Hamlin and Emma Kate Hamlin.
Preceded by her parents: Claude and Hallie Bomar Browning; husband: William Caldwell Thompson, married 1946; husband: Robert Burton, married 1991.
Claudine taught school in Henry County Systems for 38 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of TN Ed Association, the National Education Association and the Paris-Henry County Retired Teachers Association where she was a past president. She graduated from Grove High School at the age of 16 and started teaching at the age of 18 in a one room 8 grade school. Claudine graduated from University of TN Jr. College in Martin and from Murray State University with a BS degree in elementary education. After retiring she began as a substitute teacher at Paris Elementary and Rhea Schools and was an auxiliary member of Senior Stars at Henry Medical Center. Her suggestion was chosen and she had the honor of naming the "Senior Stars". She was a member of First Baptist Church and joined at the age of 11. Claudine began teaching Sunday School and did for 30 years. She was a member of the LLL Senior group at First Baptist Church where she held various offices. Her Great-Great Grandfather, Jacob Browning was the first Pastor and one of the founders of First Baptist Church. Claudine enjoyed traveling, touring all of the states including Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, many Caribbean Islands, Europe and South America. She enjoyed telling her students about these travels.
