Crystel Alexander Smith, age 88 of Mansfield, TN passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Henry County Medical Center. Her funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Bro. Keith Nation and Bro. James Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Roland, Bruce, Robert and David "Pudge" Alexander; Lanny Smith and Dan Townsend. Honorary pallbearers are Glen Alexander, John Alexander and Jason Wade. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at McEvoy Funeral Home; then again on Sunday after 1:00 P.M. until time of service at the church. Crystel Alexander Smith was born April 23, 1933 in the Mill Creek Community of Henry County, Tennessee to the late Page Alexander and the late Lillian Johnson Alexander. She married Lucian Smith, October 24, 1954 and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2010. Crystel is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Smith (Rick) Paschall of Tucson, Arizona and Jane Smith Triplett of Puryear; son, Randy (Lorrie) Smith of Mansfield; sister Joyce (Tom) Dryer of Millington; brother, Thomas (Ann) Alexander of Puryear; grandchildren, Kevin Paschall, Jennifer Paschall, Joanna Paschall, and Brian Keith (April) Triplett; great-grandchildren, Mycheala (Kenneth) Vazquez, Johney Paschall, Emily Paschall and Jaiden Paschall, Ashton Sowards, Noah Triplett, Levi Triplett, and Ruth Triplett; also by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and four step grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Smith is also preceded in death by her brothers, Malon and Carol Alexander; and sisters in law, Birdell Alexander and Ruth Alexander. Crystel was Salutatorian of her Puryear High Graduation Class. She formerly worked at the Pentagon, but her main profession was being a custom seamstress specializing in dresses, gowns, mens suits and school uniforms. She was the longest standing member of Pleasant Hill UMC, where she taught Sunday School, was the Church Treasurer and Pianist. She was also a member of The Rainbow of Sound musical group.
