Mrs. Darlene Overton Yates, age 77, of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Henry County Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 25, 2019 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr. John Smith officiating. Family and friends will act as pallbearers. Burial will follow the service in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 11:00 A.M. Thursday until time of service. Darlene Overton Yates was born September 22, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to the late William Jordan Overton and the late Ruth Evelyn Simons Overton. She married Emmitt "Junior" Yates on May 27, 1989 and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2009. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Steve Gibson) Falberg of Paris and Melisha (Chris) O'Quinn of Clayton, North Carolina; step-daughter, Julie Yates of Hickman, Kentucky; step-sons, Donald Yates of Union City, Tennessee and Michael Yates of West Virginia; brother, William Dean (Madelyn) Overton of Crystal Lake, Illinois; grandchildren, Josh (Katie) Gibson; Ariel, Belle, and Noble O'Quinn; step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Macy Yates; great grandchildren, Stella and Oliver Gibson; and her aunt, Tommie Lou Waggener of Martin, Tennessee. Mrs. Yates was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was known best for the many years the she worked at Pockets.
