David William "Bill" Oliver, age 83 of Paris, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville. His funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 23, 2019 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Vance of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors. Visitation will be after 9:30 AM Thursday, prior to the service at McEvoy Funeral Home. Bill Oliver was born December 2, 1935 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late John David Oliver and the late Ruby Pearl Crozier Oliver. On November 3, 1959 he married Kathy Achatz and she preceded him in death on May 5, 1986. On November 26, 1986 he married Doris M. Williams and she preceded him in death on December 15, 2005. Mr. Oliver is survived by a sister, Carol Vaughan of Nashville; three nephews: Michael Vaughan, David Vaughan and Russell (Tina) Bucy; and a great niece and nephew, Kaylee and Seth Bucy. Besides his parents and wives, Mr. Oliver was also preceded in death by a sister, Kay Bucy. Mr. Oliver graduated from Grove High School in 1954. He served two years in the U.S. Army in Munich, Germany. He worked 32 years at Holley Carburetor in Paris until the plant closed with the last 14 years being in skilled trade. Bill served 32 years in the TN National Guard and retired in 1985 as a CW3 warrant officer. He had a pilot's license and enjoyed flying. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the NRA, Duck's Unlimited, and was a life member of the Elks Lodge and Amvets. He served part-time deputy sheriff in Paris. Bill was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and he sang in the choir. Visitation McEvoy Funeral Home, Inc.
