Dorothy Hopkins Wade Ward, age 88 of the Whitlock Community passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 27, 2022 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dale Gallimore and Kevin Gallimore officiating. Burial will follow the service in Foundry Hill Community of Christ Church Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Michael Hopkins, James Lacy, Susan Wade, Junior Barham, Danny Barham, and Doug Hearnsberger; and honorary pallbearers as Tim Lacy and Kenny Lacy.
Visitation for Dorothy is scheduled at McEvoy on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again on Thursday after 1:00 P.M. until service.
Dorothy Hopkins Wade Ward was born July 16, 1934 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late William Eli Hopkins and the late Della McDaniel Hopkins. She married Joe Arliss Wade in 1959 and he preceded her in death in 1982. She married Frank Ward in 1995 and he preceded her in death in 2005. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Michelle Wade and husband Jason of Whitlock; son, Richard Wade and wife Beverly of Maryville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Wesley Wade and wife Susan, Whitney Williams and husband Jesse, Kaelin Wade, and Paul Wade; and by great grandchildren, Ester and Evangeline Williams.
Besides her parents and spouses, Dorothy is also preceded by six sisters, Hinda Thomas, Sarah Owen, Johnnie Shankle, Rebecca Hovath, Regina Lamb, and Kay Forsythe; and five brothers, George, Reginald, Doris, and Keith Hopkins and Mills Rhodes Barfield.
Mrs. Ward retired from Salant & Salant and from Henry County Health Department where she worked as a CNA. Dorothy loved yard sales, flea markets and most especially watching her grandchildren dance.
