Mr. Douglas F. Griffin, age 93, of Buchanan, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the NHC Healthcare of Dickson, Tennessee. His funeral service will be held 4:00 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2018 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Dukes and Bro. Jerry Lee to officiate. Burial will follow in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled on Friday after 3:00 P.M. until time of service at 4:00 P.M. Douglas Freeman Griffin was born April 23, 1925 in Louisiana to the late Bryon Griffin and the late Mamie Sue McKinney Griffin. He married Gladys Inez Griffin on May 5, 1950 and she preceded him in death on June 5, 2018. Douglas is survived by a sister: Ruth Finley of Melborne, Arkansas, his granddaughter: Jessica (Mike) Roney of Dickson, TN and great grandchildren: Emily, Olivia, and Alex Roney. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Griffin is also preceded in death by his daughter: Patsy Louise Akers, his son: Larry Douglas Griffin, three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Griffin was a WWII U.S. Army combat veteran. He was a longtime member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church. Douglas worked as a Federal U.S. Meat Inspector in Union City for over 30 years.
