Mr. Douglas Nash age 88 of Paris, Tennessee passed away December 14, 2016 at his residence. His funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2016 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Jerry Nash and Bro. Thomas Winchester officiating, with burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Named as pallbearers are Jeremy Powers, Troy Rutland, Donald Bennett, Ricky Nash, Joe Pat Moody and Ali Alhashimi.
Visitation 11:00AM until service time at 2:00PM.
Mr. Nash was born July 19, 1928 in Henry, Tennessee to the late Lawson Leroy "Lawsie" Nash and Mylinda Jane "Lindie" Douglas Nash. On January 18, 1947 he married Dorothy Mae Ivie Nash, she preceded May 21, 2013.
Survived by daughters Sylvia Anne Nash, Paris, TN, Carol (Junior) Powers of Paris, TN; son: Jerry Douglas (Ruth) Nash, Cookeville, TN; grandchildren: Tammy (Troy) Powers-Rutland, Alabama, Jeremy (Jill) Powers, Paris, TN, Sarah (Cody) Nash Stewart, Qatar, Rebekah Nash, Carbondale, IL; brother: Darris (Annette) Nash, McKenzie, TN; sister-in-law: Doris Smith, McKenzie, TN, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Preceded by sister: Alene Smith and brother: Joseph Smith.
Mr. Nash was a bi-vocational Baptist minister who pastored churches in Henry, Carroll, and Weakley counties for over fifty years. He retired from Midland Brake (Haldex) where he worked as a machine shop operator. He served in the U.S. 8th Army Medics, Occupational Forces in Yokohama, Japan and other places after WWII.
Member of Union Friendship Baptist Church. Loved the Lord and his family. He also loved people and he dedicated his life to sharing the gospel with them.
