Dr. Robert D. Adams has gone on to be with his Heavenly Father on July 2, 2020. He was born on February 16, 1934, in Paris, Tennessee to the late Horace Gus Adams and Sue Belle Claxton Adams. He graduated from Grove High School in 1952. After graduation, he attended and graduated from Gradwohl School of Laboratory in 1957. From there he attended Middle Tennessee State University where he graduated in 1963 and then was accepted to the University of Tennessee College of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 1967. After graduating medical school, Dr. Adams and family moved back to Paris in 1969, where he joined the practice at East Wood Clinic. After working there for 13 years he opened his own clinic, Adams Clinic, in 1982. He continued to work in private practice until retiring in 1999. Only retiring for a short time, he began working in the Emergency Department of Henry County Medical Center for many years. Dr. Adams was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class at First Baptist Church where he was the Outreach Leader for many years. He was a past member of the Rotary Club and Gideons International. Dr. Adams enjoyed his friendship and service to his patients. He also enjoyed his service to young people as a coach for volunteer basketball, little league baseball, and girls softball. He enjoyed the University of Tennessee football and basketball programs, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe (Janice) Adams. He is survived by his adored wife of 66 years, Peggy and his daughter, Wendi (Dr. Andrew) Lundberg, of Paris. His grandchildren Sloan Lundberg (Dane) Anderson, of Covington, TN, Robert Blain Lundberg and fiance Christian Clifton, of Paris, Harrison Graham Lundberg (Alma) of Boston, Margaret McWhorter Lundberg, and Claire Elise Buettner, of Paris. His great grandchild, Robert Carter Anderson, of Covington, TN. He is also survived by a brother, Ray (Peggy) Adams, of Trenton TN. Visitation will be at McEvoy Funeral Home in Paris, TN on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 4-7 pm and Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 12-2 pm. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday with Dr. Trent Bullock and Larry Simmons of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Andrew Lundberg, Dane Anderson, Blain Lundberg, Harrison Lundberg, Rickey Searcey, and Bo Sinclair. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School class, Charles Wilson, Jim Winchester, Kenny Paschall, RO Nason, William Atchison, Clint Barrett, Ray Card, Dr. Jim Robertson, and Dr. Mickey Norman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude and Gideons International.
