The funeral service for longtime Paris physician and one-time mayor Dr. Joe Mobley Sr. of Paris will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27 at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Trent Bullock of First Baptist Church in Paris will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and members of the military.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 26 and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 27.
Mobley, 82, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at the residence of his daughter, Janie (Charles) Nash, in Paris.
His wife, Carolyn Morgan Mobley, survives. They were married on Sept. 28, 1949.
Born Aug. 31, 1927, in Yazoo City, Miss., he was a son of Emmett Paul Mobley Sr. and Clara Wingfield Mobley, both deceased.
He also leaves two other daughters: Carol (Dr. Joe) Boggess of Columbus, Miss., and Diana (James Richard) Bevill of Paris; one son: Dr. Joe D. (Karolyn) Mobley Jr. of Paris; two brothers: Dr. E.P. (Mary Ruth) Mobley Jr. of Paris and Jeff (Elizabeth) Mobley of Russellville, Ark.;
Eight grandchildren: Tom Boggess, Bo Fowler, Jessica (Billy) Pugh, Amy (Tommy) Pettit, James Richard (Samantha) Bevill Jr., Leigh Ann (Brian) Horton, Dr. Joe D. (Janie) Mobley III and Katherine (Alex) Armour; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Emily Fowler and Chris Mobley.
