Funeral service 1:00 PM Friday, McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. John Dale of Glendale Road Church of Christ and Bro. Victor Eskew of East Wood Church of Christ officiating, burial will follow at Puryear City Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Randell Foster, Troy Buttrey, Don Cate, Logan Dodd, Jimmy Wynn and Mark Brown, honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of East Wood Church of Christ. Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday and after 12:00 Noon Friday. Born in Puryear, TN to the late William Thomas and Carrye Williams Hays. April of 1946 he married Thelma Louise Arnold Hays, she survives, Paris, TN. Survived by daughters: Aleda (David) Rickelton, Winston Salem, NC, Debi Hays, Laredo, TX; grandchildren: David Kendall (Angela) Rickelton, Jr., Greensboro, NC, Patrick H. (Erin) Rickelton, Nashville, TN, Jennie Rickelton, Winston Salem, NC; great-grandchildren: Ava, Jackson, Ethan and Silas Rickelton. Mr. Hays was a member of the East Wood Church of Christ where he served as an elder and taught Sunday School for a number of years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army Corp of Engineers...Church was his LIFE!!!
