Earl P. Shankle, age 89 of Paris, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Shankle was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII with the 86th Black Hawk Infantry Division. He worked and retired from Plumley Rubber Company with over 40 years of service. Earl loved fishing, drawing, wood working, cooking country ham breakfast at Christmas and dancing with his wife.
He is survived by two daughters: Jena Barnes and Judy Collins both of Paris; two sons: Alvin (Margie) Shankle and Billy (Sherry) Johnson both of Paris; grandchildren: Heather Ray, Amanda Hendrix, Thomas Johnson, Heather Presson, Marie Lee, Wesley Hardin, Tonya Buxton, Stephen Collins; great-grandchildren: sixteen; Aunt: Minnie Bess Williams; several nephews including: Daryl and Larry Harris; cousin: Janice King and by his "faithful friends and sitters".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Shankle August 12, 2012, they were married April 2, 1948; parents: Alvin E. and Ruth Williams Shankle; sons-in-law: Bill Barnes and Robert "Shag" Collins; sisters: Mae F. Harris, Garneta Bushart; brothers: Thomas Eugene "Gene" Shankle and Gaylin Shankle.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, April 4, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Allison and Bro. Cliff Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers are Ted Lee, Wesley Hardin, Paul Hendrix, Randy Presson, Thomas Johnson, Luther Ray, Brandon Buxton and Stephen Collins. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00PM Friday and after 9:00AM Saturday at McEvoy Funeral Home.
