Edward William Laird

Funeral services for Mr. Edward William Laird, age 86, of Winder, GA, formerly of Puryear, TN will be conducted on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Paris, TN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at McEvoy Funeral Home from 4:00 8:00 P.M. Mr. Laird was married on February 1, 1947 to Marthan Spencer Laird who survives. He is also survived by daughters; Ann (Loic) Gerville-Reache, Dickson, TN, Margaret Yebra, Winder, GA, sons; Chae (Beverly) Laird, Birmingham, AL, Grant (Debbie) Laird, Puryear, TN, Price (Emily) Laird, Lawrenceville, GA, sisters; Harriet Maddock, Washington, IL, Margaret Tietjen, Jackson, MS, Mary Jane (James) Hanson, Wichita, KS, brother, Charles Jock (Marilyn) Laird, Terre Haute, IN. Fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren also survive Mr. Laird. Parents, Charles and Margaret Mason Laird preceded him. Edward was a graduate of Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, MO and a Veteran of WWII where he served with the Army Air Corp, 452 Bomb Group as a Top Gunner in a B17 Flying Fortress . Mr. Laird was Co- Owner and Operator of Laird Brick Company in Puryear, TN. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris, TN from 1959 until he moved to Winder, GA.
