Elizabeth "Liz" Lee Hays Buie

Elizabeth “Liz” Lee Hays Buie, age 75, of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. Her body is to be cremated, and a family celebration of her life is planned for a later date.

Liz Buie was born on June 23, 1951, in Nashville, TN to the late Rucker Hays and the late Mary Wells Hays. She married Doug Buie on October 8, 1971, and he survives in Paris. Liz is also survived by her daughter, Mary Dye of Paris; son, Charlie (Loan) Buie of Paris; grandchildren, Hunter (Victoria) Dye, Cody Dye, Elizabeth (David) Clendenin, and Mary (Tristen) Tyler; great-grandchildren, Simon Tyler, Ophelia Clendenin, Atticus Clendenin, Cyrus Dye, Lucy Dye, and Lincoln Dye; sister, Frances Hays of Glen Burnie, MD; brothers, Henry (Melody) Hays of Severn, MD and John Hays of Millersville, MD.

Mrs. Buie is also preceded by her sister, Margaret Lillian Hays, who died in infancy.

Liz was a member of Union Friendship Baptist Church. She worked at Plumley Rehab for more than twenty-five years as a physical therapy tech. Liz was a people person and was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed her dogs, cats and potbellied pigs, also feeding many of the wild animals around her home, including the raccoons. Liz dearly loved her family and especially her grandchildren.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in Liz’s memory to Mineral Wells Animal Clinic, the Humane Society or local Animal Shelter.
