Eugene "Gene" Allen Long of Paris, Tennessee passed away at the age of 95 on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Charter Assisted Living. His body is to be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date. He was born on June 12, 1928 in Granite City, Illinois to Lawrence and Mabel Long, both preceded. He married Oreta Long on January 30th, 1985 and she preceded him in death on January 14th, 2011. Mr. Long is survived by his daughters, Debra "Debbie" McKinize, Mt Vernon, Illinois; Linda Gibbons, Paris, Tennessee; Shirley Hadden, Russellville, Kentucky; his sons, Gary Gibbons, Paris, Tennessee; Roger Gibbons, Camden, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous other close family members and friends. Besides his parents and wife, Gene is also preceded in death by his son, Robert Gibbons; by a daughter-in-law, Mercedes Gibbons (Roger's wife); son-in-law, Gene Hadden (Shirleys husband); sister, Susie Talley; and brother, Eddie Long. Gene was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed bowling, watching horse races, and was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
