Mrs. Eva Nell James, age 95 of Paris passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Paris Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow at Birds Creek Cemetery in Whitlock. Glynn Orr will officiate. Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Thursday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Nichols. Eva Nell Linn James was born June 14, 1921 in Kentucky to the late Thomas Carr Linn and the late Bessie Flood Linn. On December 24, 1938 she married Gordon C. James and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1997. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Hester Mae Linn, Mary Farley, Winnie Sue Ortiz, and Dorothy Irby; two brothers, Orel Linn and Hoyt Linn; and one daughter-in-law, Sharon James who passed away in 2015. Eva Nell James is survived by a daughter, Sondra (Hal) Rice of Murray, KY; two sons, Milton (Glenda) James and Kenneth James both of Paris, TN; three grandchildren, Rod (Angela) James of Paris, TN, Scott Rice of Nashville, TN, and Russ (Felicia) James of Murfreesboro, TN; and four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Beth James and Drew Landon James of Paris, TN and Kenzie James and Gavin James of Murfreesboro, TN. Mrs. James was affectionately known and loved as "Mama Nell" to her family and friends. She was a longtime member of Birds Creek Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the choir. Mama Nell was blessed with the gift of music and often sang specials during worship services. She loved her church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was also known to be an excellent seamstress who sewed for her family and the Whitlock community. SERVICES Funeral Service
