Gene Abernathy Richardson, age 85 of Paris, TN passed away Thursday December 29, 2016 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. Funeral service 2:00PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church, 105 South Market Street, Paris, TN with Rev. Arthur Lodge officiating, burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 - 7:00PM Tuesday, January 3rd at McEvoy Funeral Home. Visitation after 12:00Noon until service time Wednesday, January 4th at the First Presbyterian Church. Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Richardson was born February 23, 1931 in Paris, TN to the late Andrew "Buck" and Sue Fryer Abernathy. On August 9, 1957 she married Jerry Spencer Richardson, he preceded September 18, 1991. Survived by daughters: Nancy Spencer Richardson, Paris, TN, Anne Lovell (Charles) Batt, Franklin, TN; sister: Suzannah Herron, Paris, TN; brothers: Eugene Bailey (Betty) Abernathy, Biloxi, MS, Andrew (Sherry) Abernathy, Palmyra, TN; grandchild: Sydney Elizabeth Roof, Franklin, TN. Gene was the longest standing member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris. She taught piano lessons for over 60 years and also taught swimming lessons for many years. She had an interest in ballroom dancing and kept up with family genealogy. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to: Samaritans Purse, P.O.
