Geneva Hughes Matheny, age 83, of Puryear, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Henry County Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 20, 2019 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Teddy Hill officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow the service in Rose Lawn Memory Garden. Visitation is scheduled on Saturday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again on Sunday after 12:00 P.M. until time of service. Geneva Hughes Matheny was born May 19, 1936 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late Ollie Hughes and the late Ena Gibbons Hughes. On April 23, 1955 she married Earl Matheny and he survives in Puryear, TN. Ms. Matheny is also survived by three sons: Steven Matheny of Puryear, TN, Timothy (Gala) Matheny of Paris, TN and John (Angie) Matheny of Murray, KY; sister, Jo Ann Harp of Tupelo, MS; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Ms. Matheny was also preceded in death by a brother, Norman Hughes. Ms. Matheny was a member of Jesus Saves Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.
