Mrs. Georgia Lee Boyd Newport, age 95 formerly of Puryear, TN passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center in Huntingdon. Georgia was a Girl Scout leader, helped with taking the Census and was very active with the Henry County Helping Hands. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. A family member said she was a very loving, giving and compassionate person. She did factory work in Michigan and worked at Holley Carburetor Plant formerly of Paris. She is survived by a daughter: Regina Beth Hill Culver, Puryear; grandchildren: Sue (Jason) Zarins, Matt(Stephanie)Hill; great-grandchildren: Adam, Benjamin and Carah Noble, Belinda, Conner and Nathaniel Hill; great-great-grandchildren: three; nieces: Ginny Cate, Julie Johnson; nephews: George Bearden, Jim Bearden; special friends and children: Billie (Bill) Mosley, Mike (Tammy) Wimberley, Ross Wimberley, Paul (Catherine) Korp and Edith Bucy. She was preceded by her husband: Arch Alan Wikowsky June 25, 1950, they were married May 16, 1942; husband: Sherman C. Newport October 21, 1993, they were married May 30, 1953; parents: George Washington and Rachel Melissa Dooley Boyd; sister: Thelma Bearden and a brother: Harold Boyd. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Point Pleasant Cemetery in Buchanan with Bro. Mike Wimberley of Cottage Grove Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until 12:00PM Thursday April 2, 2015 at McEvoy Funeral Home of Paris. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of ones choice.
