Mr. Gerald H. Taylor age 73 of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at St. Thomas West in Nashville. His funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Kevin Sprague of First Church of Nazarene, Bamberg, South Carolina officiating. Burial will follow the service in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Named as pallbearers are Gary Taylor, Kenneth Taylor, Mark Taylor, Lynn Taylor, Larry Taylor, and David Taylor; honorary pallbearers are John McDougal and Danny Ellis. Visitation is scheduled at McEvoy from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday and again on Thursday after 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Gerald Harris Taylor was born November 19, 1945 in Henry County, Tennessee to the late Malcolm Green Taylor and the late Joy Bell Harris Taylor. He married Shirley Hammonds Taylor on April 18, 1981 and she preceded him in death July 29, 2002 and he is also preceded in death by his special friend and companion, Virginia Lange who died October 29, 2018. Gerald is survived by his daughter, Cindy Taylor of Paris; son, Jeff (Valerie) Taylor of Paris; sister, Karen Sprague of Puryear; brothers, Gary Taylor of Puryear, Kenneth (Kathy) Taylor of Paris, Lynn (Lisa) Taylor of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Mark (Roxanne) Taylor of Paris; grandchildren, Kayla Taylor, Lee Taylor, Clay (Bekka) Taylor, and Lauren Taylor; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Gerald is also preceded in death by his brother in law, Larry Sprague. Mr. Taylor was a 1964 graduate of E.W. Grove High School. He was a Baptist by faith and formerly attended Birds Creek Baptist Church. Gerald worked at Paris Building Supply for many years and also at Pope Concrete Company. He was a sports fanatic, a well known bowler, and coached Babe Ruth baseball.
