Gladys Evelyn Stewart Carpenter, age 86 of Paris, Tennessee passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at her residence. Her body is to be cremated and a celebration of her life will be planned for a later date. Ms. Carpenter was born January 19, 1938 in Matthews, Missouri to the late James Elmer Stewart and the late Haultress Lee Walker Stewart. She married David Leslie Carpenter, December 6, 1974 and he preceded her in death in 2018. She is survived by her daughters, Jewel Chenault of Paris and Tracy E. Laughrey of Florida; sons, Terry Ray (Vonna) Harless of Scott City, Kansas, Roger D. (Carol) Harless of Florida and Christopher D. (Vicky) Harless of New York; sister, Margaret Smith of Florida; brother, Richard Stewart of Buchanan; also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Gladys is also preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Waldren and Doris Owens and brothers, Earl, Michael, Jackie and Thomas Stewart. Ms. Carpenter was a member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church. Gladys was known to be a wonderful caregiver, loving mother and grandmother. She adored her family and they loved her deeply.
