H. Clemonteen McClure, (also lovingly referred to as Granny and Aunt Clemmie), passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at West Tennessee Health Care Hospice.
She was born on September 23, 1927, in Henry County to the late William (Willie) Wilson and the late Annie Green Wilson. She married Glen Mason McClure on May 28, 1948, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2009.
She retired from Holley Carburetor Plant at its closing, and she was a longtime member of the Paris Community of Christ Church.
She is survived by two children, Dennis (Susan) McClure of Henry and Jimmy (Angela) McClure of Martin; two grandchildren, Keri Lynette (Jordan) Knott of Paris and Dustin Glen (Abbie) McClure of Martin; seven great-grandchildren, Kinslee Jean Evans-Knott, Jocee Lynette Knott, and Jameson Larry Knott; Warren Glen McClure, Falynn Rae McClure, Georgia Ann McClure and Banks Richard McClure; many special nieces, nephews and cousins; beloved caregivers, Janice, Marie, Kendra, Gloria, and Sandy.
Preceded in death by two sisters, Addie May Wilson (infant) and Lorene (Kelly) Farris; and four brothers, Wilburn (Mildred) Wilson, Fred (Sybil) Wilson, Guy Norris (Martha) Wilson, and William Earl (Sandra) Wilson; and a grandson-in-law, Jason Evans.
Mason and Clemonteen raised their family on the farm in Buchanan, where they felt like they had the best neighbors in the world. In retirement, they moved to Paris where there, they also had the greatest neighbors in the world.
Some of their most cherished moments were spending time with their family and sharing in any activities the children and grandchildren were involved in. As the great-grandchildren came along, she enjoyed watching them grow and hearing of their great achievements and activities they were participating in.
In later life, she spent much time reading the Bible and other good books, praying and thinking about her family, church family, friends and neighbors. Her concerns were always more for others than for herself. She also enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball and Lady Vols basketball.
She will be greatly missed by her family, but we rest assured in the promise that she is at peace in the loving arms of her heavenly father and creator.
Mrs. McClure’s funeral service will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, officiated by Gary Collier, Philip Boyd and Dale Gallimore. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and burial will follow services in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation with the family is planned on Sunday, after 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to your favorite charity or to Paris Community of Christ Church, 1404 Lone Oak Road, Paris, TN 38242.
