Mrs. Hazel J. Carter, age 96 of Springville, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 2:00PM Monday, December 18, 2017 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Edward Smith of Kentucky Lake Road Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00PM Sunday and after 12:00PM Monday. Hazel Carter was born November 23, 1921 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the late Clarence Jones and the late Zella Pennington Jones. She was formerly married to Fred Marvin Carter and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth Sloan; two brothers: Calvin Jones and Lee Jones; a grandchild, Amy Elizabeth Carter; and one great grandchild. Mrs. Carter is survived by a daughter, Novalee Green of Springville, TN; two sons: Samuel (Donna) Carter of Pittsboro, IN and Raymond (Darlene) Carter of Millington, TN; a sister, Bernice White of Murray, KY; two sisters-in-law: Dora Jones of Avon, IN and Edith Jones of Harlan, KY; five grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth (Brian) Scott, Kim (Shawn) Pribble, Angela (Dave) Roberts, Danielle Harrison, and Jeffery Ray (Michelle) Carter; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Mrs. Carter was a member of Kentucky Lake Road Church of Christ. She was an L.P.N. and worked in the nursery at Henry County Medical Center. She enjoyed sewing and made quilts for her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. SERVICES
