Funeral service 2:30PM Sunday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Dale and his son Steve Hopkins officiating, burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Named as pallbearers are Glenn Wimberley, Larry Wimberley, Gary Morris, Glenn Morris, Jonathan Hopkins, Terry Wimberley, Jason Wimberley, Mike Coley and Bobby Dunlap. Visitation 12:30PM until service time Sunday. He was the son of the late Albert and Beulah Kendall Hopkins. On September 23, 1951 he married LaVerne Morris Hopkins, she survives in Paris. Survived by a son: Stephen M. (Patrice) Hopkins, Boone, NC; grandchildren: Emily Katherine Hopkins and Jonathan Lee Hopkins; special nephews: Glenn Wimberley and Larry Wimberley and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded by two sisters: Winifred Wimberley and Gladys Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a long time member of the East Wood Street Church of Christ. Hulon "Hop" retired from BPU with over 40 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
