Funeral service 11:00AM Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Rhodes of Puryear Baptist Church officiating, burial will follow at Puryear City Cemetery. Masonic Lodge members of Buchanan Lodge #772 will serve as pallbearers. Visitation 4:00 - 7:00PM Monday and after 9:30AM Tuesday. He was born in Puryear to the late John Tom and Jessie Orr Morris Burton. On January 16, 1942 he married Virginia Wright Burton, she survives in Puryear. Survived by a daughter: Jan (Johnny) Brown, Paris; son: Terry (Tommie) Burton, Puryear; grandchildren: Tina Burton McCord, Jeff Burton, Tony Brown, Tim Brown; great-grandchildren: Amanda DuBois, Alyssa Brown, Emily Brown, Caitlin Brown, Tyler Brown; great great-grandchildren: Casey Mounts and Mikali Mounts. Preceded by a brother: James C. Burton and a grandson: James Thomas McCord. J.T. was a member of the Puryear Baptist Church. He was a supervisor at Midland Ross for 28 years and was superintendent of the Puryear Water Plant before retiring. He was a fifty-three year member of the Masonic Lodge and also a Shriner.
