J. Odean Morris, age 82 of Paris, TN passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at her residence. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 18, 2021, at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. William "Buddy" Morris of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at McEvoy Funeral Home. Odean Morris was born August 10, 1939, in Henry Co., Tennessee to the late Elvis "Jack" Matheny and the late Clara Matheny. On December 23, 1954, she married Sherman William Morris and he preceded her in death on June 5, 1985. Ms. Morris was a Baptist and she worked at Salant & Salant for 13 years and Emerson Electric for 20 years. She was also an assistant scout leader for a number of years. Odean is survived by two daughters: Deborah Taylor of Paris, TN and Lori (Tommy) Chandler of McKenzie, TN; two sons: William B. Morris and Larry "Bucky" Morris both of Paris, TN; two sisters: Dorothy Hutson of Allen Park, MI and Carolyn Fodge of McKenzie, TN; six grandchildren: Scott Lewis, Ben Taylor (Jayme Freburg), Dustin Morris (Alyssa Carter), Lee (Jessica) Chandler, Misty (Joe) Reddick, and Wendy (John) Burroughs; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family. Besides her parents and husband, Ms. Morris was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Lewis; a sister, Virginia Morehead; and three brothers: William Eli Matheny, Elvis Matheny, Jr., and Earl Matheny. Pallbearers for Ms. Morris will be Scott Lewis, Ben Taylor, Lee Chandler, Dustin Morris, Michael McGowan, and Sam Rushing. Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
