James "Jim" Coley, Sr. passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 at his residence. His funeral will be graveside at 10:00 AM at Bethel Cemetery with burial to follow. No visitation is scheduled. James Jesse Coley, Sr. was born August 14, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to the late Archibald Andrew Coley and the late Pearl Annie Lee Crimm Coley. On September 1, 1961 he married Violet Rae Nelson Coley and she survives in Buchanan, TN. Mr. Coley is also survived by his daughter, Cindy (Dan) Murphy of Yellville, Arkansas; two sons: James Jesse (Cyndi) Coley, Jr. of Hickory Creek, Texas and Frank Clayton (Tracy) Coley of Henry, TN; five grandchildren: James Coley, Sonny Mclain, Misty Mclain, Brandi Coley, and Amanda Wintersteen; and six great grandchildren: Leandra Coley, Tyler Coley, Shelby Mclain, Harley Mclain, Hailey Mclain, and Aiden Wintersteen. Besides his parents, Mr. Coley was also preceded in death by three sisters: Helen Elizabeth Coley, Dorothy Ruth Coley, and Jane Coley; two brothers: Archie A. Coley and Gerald Parker Coley; and a great grandchild, Elizabeth Wintersteen. Mr. Coley worked primarily as a heavy equipment mechanic on the Trans-Alaska pipeline and later for Tennessee Asphalt in Paris, TN. He was also an amateur gold miner, dog breeder, and inventor, always ready with a joke and a smile. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a beloved family man.
