Mr. James L. Mackey, age 66, of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at his residence. His body is to be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
James L. Mackey was born March 13, 1956 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Joseph L. Mackey, Sr. and the late Mary Middleton Mackey. He married Betty Jean Johnson Mackey on June 18, 1979 and she survives in Paris. He is also survived by daughter, Shannon Mackey (Chris Hopkins) of Henry; son, James (Denise) Johnson of Big Sandy; son-in-law, William Thomas Bates of Paris; sisters, Brenda Shotwell (Dave Barkley) and Mary Marcum all of Port Charlotte, Florida and Ethel (Tim) Gamble of Stoney Point, Michigan; brother, Richard (Mary) Mackey of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; grandchildren, Adam, Mark and Jessie Johnson; Hannah Sue and Tucker Hopkins; Alanta Harris and Ashley Bates; great grandchildren, Dakota Lane Staggs, Mya Jean Staggs, Ryder Thomas Staggs and Bryson Ray Staggs.
Besides his parents, James is also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Jean Mackey Bates and brother, Joe Mackey.
Mr. Mackey was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a motorcyclist who participated in many charity bike runs and Christian fellowship runs. James was a teacher of Marshall Arts along with his brother. He respected nature, believed in doing the right thing and was a Christian by faith.
