James H. McKinney, age 52 of Whitlock, TN passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at his residence. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Adkisson of Progressive Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Buchanan, TN. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday morning before the service at McEvoy Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Mr. McKinney will be Jerry Stallions, Jr., Jerry Stallions, III, Fred Lewis, Zachariah Carper, Patrick Smouthers, and Wally Smouthers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jaaron Lewis and Jared Fenstermaker. James H. McKinney was born December 16, 1968, in Paris, TN to the late J.R. McKinney, Jr., and the late Charlene Clark McKinney. On April 6, 1996, he married Brenda Smouthers McKinney and she survives in Whitlock, TN. In addition to his wife, James is also survived by a daughter, Shannon Smouthers of Paris, TN; a son, Jerry Stallions, Jr., (fiance' Kristen Carper) of Henry, TN; son-in-law, Fred Lewis of Paris, TN; four grandchildren: Andrea (Jared) Stallions, Zachariah (Laura) Carper, Jerry Stallions, III, and Jaaron Lewis; great-grandchild, Ezra Clay Carper; five sisters: Debra (Hank) Rogers of Fulton, MS, Diane (Bill) Fuller of Friendswood, TX, Melinda (Ronnie) Penland of Enka, NC, Brenda Rucky of Texas, and Emma (John) Placke of South Carolina; two brothers: Danny McKinney of North Carolina and Jamie McKinney of Paris, TN; mother-in-law, Ilene Slawinski; two sisters-in-law: Laura (Dave) Gorman and Susie Kurilla; five brothers-in-law: Larry (Debbie) Smouthers, Pat Smouthers, Wally Smouthers, Lenny Smouthers, and Roger Smouthers; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, James was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Slawinski. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018 or give to a family in need for Christmas.
