Funeral service 11:00AM Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Cate of New Bethel Church of Christ officiating, burial will follow at Vandyke Church of Christ Cemetery.
Named as pallbearers are Billy Barnhill, Rube Elliott, Gary Wayne Milligan, Milton Peale, William Earl Williams and Harold Tharpe. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Lacy, Keith Carver, Dale Felgenhaueer, Jim McCary, Bill Whitehare, Glen Gurlly and Steve Garner.

He was born in Henry County to the late Rexie and Lola Harris Smith. On February 11, 1963 he married Martha Barlow Smith, she survives in Springville.
Survived by a daughter: Pam Burnett, Paris; son: David Smith, Springville; sisters: Ruthie (Wallace) Parker, Paris, Nelda Pinson, Paris; step-sister: Jamie (Bobby) Bass, Henderson; sister-in-law: Bess Sanford, Williston, FL; brother-in-law: Arthur Waymire, Mississippi; grandchildren: Kayla and Jay Burnett, David Smith, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Preceded by his step-father: Dudley Dunn; son-in-law: John Burnett; sister: Jarutha Waymire and a brother: Paul Smith.
J.W. had retired as superintendent at the gas plant in Cottage Grove (American Natural Resources). He was a member of the Paris Elks Lodge, Paris Moose Lodge, was an avid fisherman and was a people person who never met a stranger.
