Mr. Jay S. Van Patten age 95 of Paris, Tennessee passed away Tuesday May 16, 2017 at the Henry County Medical Center. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, 2:30 P.M. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Cate officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery. Acting as Pallbearers will be Nathan Foster, Harrison Foster, Jerry Olive, Mark Horner, Daniel Brockwell and David Park. Visitation for Mr. Van Patten is scheduled at McEvoy Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday after 11:00 A.M. until service.
Mr. Van Patten was born in New York to the late James Van Patten and Anna Jones. He married Ruth Pennington on May 5, 1946 and she preceded him in death on February 22, 2016. Jay is survived by two daughters: Cherylanne Van Patten and Barbara (John) McDavid, both of Paris, Tennessee; grandchildren: Kim (Brian) Foster, Kelley (Jim) Fox, Michael (Tara) McDavid, Brian (Alisa) McDavid, Mark Horner, Brandy Horner, Katelyn Horner, and Allie (Daniel) Brockwell; great grandchildren: Nathan (Chelsea) Foster, Harrison Foster; Anna, Landon, and Shelby Fox; Tessa (John) Evans, Micah McDavid; Brianna, Keirsten, and John McDavid; Robert Daniel Brockwell III; great great grandchild: Lily Evans. Jay is also preceded in death by his brother: William Van Patten.
Jay worked and retired from Midland Brake of Paris. He was an avid gardener and loved working outdoors.
