Jerry Bruce Collins lived a wonderful life and departed on June 26, 2013 at his home with his wife and two daughters always at his bedside loving and caring for him through this journey. He was a precious husband and father who will be sadly missed and he never let the disease of cancer conquer his spirit.
Jerry Bruce Collins served 42 years with the National Guard, 34 of those years were full time service. He was dedicated and proud to serve our country and honored to be associated with the other guardsman and their families. He will be missed but like a ship going out to sea, he is leaving one place to go to another. He will be patiently waiting with his late son Jerry Ward Collins for all of his loved ones to join him.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 30, 2013 at McEvoy Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday, June 29, 2013, from 4:00 7:00PM and after 12:00 noon on Sunday. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery.
Bro. Randy Turner, Cedar Grove Church of Christ will officiate, serving as pallbearers are Cecil Garner, Charlie Brown, Paul Carney, Teddy Wade, David McAlpin and Eddie Kent.
Jerry Bruce leaves behind his wife Cookie Collins of Palmersville, Tennessee, two daughters Lisa (Mike) Hubbard of Camden, Tennessee and Christie (Mike) Suratt of Gleason, Tennessee. He also leaves his beloved companion, his little dog Jenna and special neighbors Cecil and Lynda Garner and Robbie Hodges. He also leaves two sisters, Judy Harper of Florida and Betty Jean (Pat) Sullivan of New Mexico.
Mr. Collins has 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents E.B. Buck and Jessie Collins, his son Jerry Ward Collins and granddaughter Charley Canady.
