Jerry Fuqua, age 85, of Paris, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Walker Cemetery while visiting his wife Sue's grave. His funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at McEvoy Funeral Home with Josh Manning of East Wood Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Named as honorary pallbearers are Gary Fuqua and Wayne Fuqua. Visitation is scheduled at McEvoy on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again on Wednesday after 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Jerry was born September 24, 1933 in Mississippi County, Missouri to the late Ewel J. Fuqua and the late Mary Emma Hite Fuqua. He married Sue Jackson Fuqua on December 6, 1953 and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2016. He is survived by his daughters, Joan Barnett and Julie (Tim) Edwards, all of Paris; son, Jack (Joyce) Fuqua of Big Sandy; sister, Jan (Otis) Burk of Puryear; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Lourdes) Rich, Megan (Joshua Burton) Fuqua, Justin (Hannah) Barnett, Abbey Barnett, Will Barnett, Jake (Taylor Kilpatrick) Edwards, and Jessica (Chris) Berry; eleven great-grandchildren and the twelfth expected in October; brothers-in-law, Glenn, Bennie and Don Jackson and Ines Gonzales; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Fuqua is also preceded by his brothers, William "Bill" Fuqua and Larry David Fuqua; and sisters, Latresha Gonzales, Nomel Cary and Shirley Roberts. Mr. Fuqua was a long time active member and former deacon of East Wood Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He worked and retired from Paris Natural Gas and later worked 10 years for McEvoy Funeral Home. Jerry was an outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting and fishing and all types of sports. He was a true supporter of his grandchildren's sporting events and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
